
Guwahati, March 25: The NCC North Eastern Region (NER) hosted its prestigious Annual Award function at Kalakshetra, Guwahati, on March 25th, 2025. The event celebrated the outstanding achievements and contribution of cadets, education institutes and NCC Staff of all seven sister States over the year 2024-25.

The ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, as the Chief Guest. The Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Smt. Nandita Garlosa presented prizes to cadets and institutions. NCC NER acknowledged achievements of NCC cadets, Associate NCC Officers (ANO), Girls Cadet Instructors (GCI), NCC Staff as also Principals of top-performing education institutes from all across NER.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Acharya praised the awardees for their dedication and commitment. He further emphasised that “NCC plays a crucial role in developing leadership, discipline, and patriotism among youth. Today, we honour those who have shown exceptional commitment to these values”.
A major highlight was the presentation of 55 awards to individuals and education institutes that have significantly enhanced NCC’s image in 2024-25. Best Cadets were recognized for exceptional leadership and performance, while Best ANOs were honoured for their mentorship. The Hon’ble Governor of Assam presented trophies and banners to Jorhat for Best NCC Group of NER, 5 Assam Battalion NCC for Best NCC Unit of NER, while ANO Lt Moitree Hazarika of South Point School Guwahati was adjusted Best ANO (Female) and Capt J P Uppadhya of Megahlaya was adjusted Best ANO (Male) of NCC NER. SUO Veerjyoti Sharma of Silchar was declared Best Cadet (Male) and SUO Bhawana Thapa was adjusted Best Cadet (Female) of whole NER.

Senior Army dignitaries, Major General Gagan Deep, Sena Medal, ADG NCC NER and all NCC Group Commanders of NCC NER graced the event. Their presence highlighted the significance of the occasion. ADG NCC NER also complimented all awardees and acknowledged contribution of education institutes in fostering future leaders of our country reinforcing NCC’s mission to nurture disciplined and service-oriented youth
